ACCOUNTABILITY

One of the things that troubles me as a pastor—is the failure of God’s people to participate in holding each other accountable for sin. Yes, we must love one another and forbear one another. But not at the expense of allowing our brothers and sisters to make shipwreck of their lives because of unrepentant sin. We “tolerate” disrespect for authority toward God’s leaders (and in essence, God). Church discipline is a joke because church members treat sinning believers as if they aren’t living in sin. It’s a mess .. and while we think we’re doing what’s best for others, realistically, we’re making mockery of God’s command for us to live holy lives. We’re commanded in (Eph. 5) to “have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them” – but I guess God was just joking.
