I often hear those who profess to be followers of Jesus Christ express absolute horror at the behavior of people in the news and on social media. But what exactly do Christians expect of those who don’t know the Lord? While God has called us to be salt and light in this dark world, we find it difficult to spend the necessary time and exert the necessary energy to grow into the Christ-like followers God expects. What we see on the news and on our social media pages should not cause expressions of horror. Why, you might ask? Because until we’re willing to allow God to transform our lives so that our lives are different from those who don’t know the Lord—guess what we’ll see when we turn to the news on TV? . . .
